As many of you have heard in recent news, the press has been using Barack’s affiliation (or lack there of) with the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, to show he may not be a very devout religious man, and that his relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. (the person that coined the phrase: “The Audacity of Hope”) has been rocky as of late. Rev. Wright Jr. has disputed these accusations…
CHICAGO – At a recent Sunday service, following media coverage of Obama’s last-minute decision not to have Wright speak at the senator’s presidential announcement last month, Wright warned his flock not to believe any reports of a rift between him and the church’s best-known member.
“Barack and I are fine,” Wright, 65, on an out-of-state trip, said in a recorded message played to about 2,000 attendees. “The press is not to be trusted. … Don’t let somebody outside our camp divide us.”

yep. right:-)!!
p.s. let’s not take a look at rev. mr. wright at all. let’s continue to review and consider sen. mr. obama. mr. wright is just one in a million of possible campaign supporters. to elevate him as more than that would be tragic and a backward look at american politics. a very, very wasted look.
I have to disagree, I think their relationship is rather important and worth noting despite Wright not being a political figure. If you’ve read either of Obama’s books, you know that Obama mentions on a number of occasions his admiration for Wright and credits him for his return (or rather beginning) to a religious affiliation. Also, again noting that Wright is not in the political game, he is a very important leader in the ‘community,’ which many Americans, especially the Black community, can easily relate to or look for insight.
Since religion is a major issue amongst most Americans (whether just or not) it’s easy to see why this would make the news and why some would be skepticle about how adamant Obama is in his dedication to the Church.
Doesn’t help that this is fuel for many right-wing Americans who continue to believe Obama is truly a “muslim at heart.” (pretty much O’Reilly’s entire audience)
