This article in the New York Times from earlier this week offers a bit of insight into how Obama is going to integrate religion into his campaign. Highlights from the article are below:
While Obama initially invited Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. of the Trinity United Church of Christ (Senator Obama’s Church) to attend and speak at Obama’s presidential announcement ceremony, the speaking invitation was later rescinded.
Other black leaders, such as the Rev. Al Sharpton, have been skeptical of the Wright-Obama situation.
Rev. Wright was not taken aback by the ‘disinvitation’, however he was disappointed.
How will Obama’s connections with Wright and other black clerical leaders affect his campaign?
How will this event influence the black vote, if at all?
